Ooty is known as Queen of Hill Stations. Ooty, officially is known as Udagamandalam is the capital of Nilgiris district in Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The popular Hill Station Ootacanud is being located in Niligiri Hills. The major source of economy is from tourism and agriculture. Niligiris Hills is also known as Blue Mountains. Ooty is the land of picnic spot .The altitude of this place is 2,240 meters above sea level and hence this place is very cool. Ooty experiences the sub tropical climate.

Since, Ooty being located in the Blue Mountains of the Western Ghats, it attracts a large number of tourists every year. The area covers with lofty mountains, great lakes, dense forests, sprawling grasslands, miles of tea gardens and eucalyptus trees that attracts tourists all over Ooty. There are many important tourists destinations in Ooty. Government rose garden is one of them. There are more than 20,000 varieties of roses at this garden.

Ooty Botanical Garden is the home for thousands of species, both exotic and indigenous, of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbals, bonsai plants and also 20 million year old fossilized tree. Boating in Ooty Lake is a major tourists attraction in Ooty. Ooty Lake is set among groves of Eucalyptus trees with a railway line running along banks. Stone House which is the first Bungalow in Ooty built by John Sullivan is also a tourists attraction. You could also see fee Toda Huts on the Botanical Garden which adds to the beauty to this place.

Niligiri Mountain Railway is one of the major attractions in Ooty. UNESCO added the Niligiri Mountain Railways as an extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railways and also known as the Mountain Railways of India. One of the oldest churches in India St. Stephens Church is located on the road to Mysore in Ooty. Wax museum in Ooty reflects the cultural and heritage of the Indian history is a 142 year old Bungalow. Ooty golf course is another major attraction. There is a tribal museum in Ooty which is a home to rare artifacts and photographs of Tribals in India and their houses. Other tourists spots in Ooty are Doddabetta Peak, Pyakara river, Pine forests, Wenlock Downs, Kamaraj Sagar Dam, Mudumalai National Park, Mukurthi National Park, Needle hill viewpoint, Parsons Valley Reservoir, Emrald lake, Avalanche Lake, Porthimud Lake, Upper Bhavani. To feel the beauty of nature, the right spot is Ooty because Ooty is blessed with the beauty of nation. Ooty is one of the rare place one must visit in his/her life.
