Oak Tree

We assessed Oak Tree Warwick village early this year and it deserved to be on this list due to the estates layout. Not only was the community close to public transport and other facilities, but every buildings floor plan, private or public, had a maximum of one floor with hand-rails supporting every entry.

Salford Waters Estate

Based in Victoria Point, this estate showed its class with the many features it had to offer residents. There is total wheelchair access throughout the estate, as well as a variety of lifts made available for private and public use within the community. These include; overhead lifts to allow for easy in and out access to baths and swimming pools for the physically challenged.

Seachange Village

This community offers great accessibility to the recreation areas of the village like tennis courts, swimming pools and the country club. The village has even taken into consideration for many clubs like the woodworks shop having molded grips for many of the tools to help suffers from arthritis. Seachange has focused on many of the small tasks that can frustrate physically challenged residents.

Woodbeck village

Woodbeck is possibly the best residential estate that has finely tuned the balance between independence and care for residents. There is wheeled access everywhere and handrails in every location possible. This village also hosts assistive aids in lifts, modified eating utensils, seating and cushioning devices. Many of the residents we spoke to were truly happy with their standard of living and independence and loved the aids that attributed to this.

Arcare Helensvale

Situated on the Gold Coast, many residents were sporting mobile electronic scooters with inflated rubber wheels allowing them to access the beach without getting sand-bogged. This multi-storied complex is complete with elevators and optional full-time care. The apartments can be fitted out to the residents liking and needs. This aged care home also has many helping aids for its residents as well as complimentary transport to neighboring shopping centres.
