It is hard to take real advantage of a gym membership if you don't enjoy the time you spend there. This could cause your body building efforts to wane.


There are going to be some days when your body works better than others. Don't be surprised if this happens to you. In fact it is good to vary your workout so that you have regularly scheduled "easy" days to give your body time to rest and heal from the more extreme workouts you might do. Don't let yourself get worried if you have a few days here and there when your body simply will not perform at its usual level. If you worry about it too much you could end up risking your body's health with an injury or weakening your body further.

It is important to warm up all the way before you start your workout. You need to stretch all of your muscles out before it will be safe to start doing your lifting (or other types of exercise). Warmed up muscles are not as susceptible to injury and tears. "Cold" muscles are also much harder to work than muscles that have been warmed up properly. A cold muscle is going to be stiffer and more resistant to exercise than a warm muscle. Warm muscles are loose and better able to take the strain of exercise. You don't need to do an extensive or long warm up; you only need to do enough so that you are satisfied that each of your muscles have been stretched and are loose.

Body building is for everyone. It is a good way to focus on your health and getting in shape. There are some who enjoy body building so much that they have turned it into a job! Obviously you don't have to get that into it but if you keep at it you might find that you like the effect that the sport has on your looks and health. If you set reasonable body building goals and use your brain you should easily be able to improve the level of your health!
