. Constant change in the weather leads to irregular rainfall resulting into severe situations like droughts and water shortage for daily chores. We need to follow and take up modern techniques to save as much water wastage in our house as possible. Bathrooms are one of the places where huge amount of water is consumed every day.
Following are some simple tips to save water in the bathroom-
1)Take showers instead of baths "" A five minute shower uses less water than a traditional bath. Moreover, it takes long to fill a bathtub. Taking a quick shower will save both time and water.
2)Close running taps while brushing "" If you are one of those who love to brush their teeth with running taps, then you should know that you are wasting 6 liters of water per minute. So change your habit and close the tap while brushing or washing your face as using half a sink of water is more economical than using water from continuously running tap.
3)Check for any leakages - You can always check for any leaks near the sink and taps. Keep a check on the flush; many times there are hidden cracks that lead to unwanted water wastage in the bathroom. If you want you can use food coloring or dye tablets to check if there are any silent leaks in the flush.
4)Throw tissues in the bin "" Make it a habit to throw all the used tissues in the bin instead of flushing them. This will save gallons of water that you would use to flush them down every time.
5)Make shower adjustments "" Fit your shower with a water efficient shower-head.
6)Use showers for weekly hair wash - Always turns off the water while washing and conditioning your hair and save almost 50 gallons of water every week. It is a good idea to use hand shower to wash your hair to save gallons of water for every wash.
7)Install a water saving device "" Use and install a water saving device in the flush of your toilet. This will reduce the amount of water used in every flush.
8)Get rid of your old toilet "" Install a dual flush cistern on a modern toilet that uses just 2 to 4 liters of water and avoids excessive use of water in every flush.
As a responsible citizen, we all should follow these simple tips to save water for our future generations. By making few simple changes in our basic bathroom layout and usage we can save a lot of water and make our world a greener place to live in.
