Quiet Revolution

Sometime cars go through phases of things being in fashion

. With these changes we have larger cars, smaller cars, more eco-friendly cars, the list really does go on and on. With the invention and availability of hybrid cars brands are battling to come up with features that set them apart from their competition. The battle for a customer can become tedious and boring due to the same things coming out for different brands and not panning out to be as good as the adverts on the company seem to brag about. We want something new and exciting that will really be like it is on the screens.

I was really surprised earlier this year when Kylie Minogue led a Quiet Revolution to launch the Lexus CT 200h, as usual I just thought it wasn"t true and they using a celebrity in the hope of selling the car but I was shocked to find out that the car is actually as quite as it"s advertised. Of course this was a positive surprise, although very unexpected.

When the car went on sale, I booked myself in for a test drive straight away because I wanted to find out if it was true. It was amazing sitting in the driving seat and not being able to hear the engine making a lot of noise and running on zero-emissions electric power. Last week the near-silent full hybrid luxury compact car received a Quiet Mark award from the UK Noise Abatement Society.

Paul Marshall, Lexus General Manager, Strategy and Marketing, said, "We are delighted to have received the Quiet Mark award, a fitting acknowledgement of a campaign that emphasised how quiet performance is an important and desirable element in the quality of the CT 200h. As a pop icon of our times, Kylie Minogue was the perfect ambassador to broadcast the message of our Quiet Revolution."

I still can"t believe Lexus offers a car that is so silent that it has been recognised with UKNAS"s award for excellence in quiet product design. If I hadn"t bought a car last week, then I would have bought the Lexus CT 200h for myself and enjoyed the wonderful quite drive but instead I have to wait for new car to break down. Maybe I will have to hope that someone I know will appreciate this as much as I do then go ahead with the purchase. This way I can have benefit for the near silent experience as a passenger.
