Quit Smoking Symptons
Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man and turns you into an addict.
Some of the most common withdrawal symptoms you may experience are: Headaches, insomnia, depression, coughing, feeling tired, weight gain, tightness in your chest, cravings for a cigarette.
After just one cigarette the nicotine acts on your central nervous system, your brain and other parts of your body. It actually stimulates your system even though you may feel relaxed but the only way you believe to stay relaxed is to keep smoking. As the Nicotine wears off you need to have another cigarette to have that relaxed feeling.
The cravings and withdrawal symptoms when you quit smoking are many; it's the way your body reacts when it doesn't get its fix. The symptoms can last over a two week period. You may also feel them come and go over the first few days.
Cravings usually last only 3 - 6 minutes, these will pass in a few weeks.
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS. May also be tingling in your hands and feet, sweating, headaches, cramps, sore throats and coughing. This will happen as your lungs begin to clear the mucus from them.
COUGHING. This happens as your body starts to detox, drink plenty of water, fluids, orange juice.
INSOMNIA. You may experience dreams as the nicotine affects your brain wave function. These can last a week, try relaxing at night time with a glass of warm milk plus do some deep breathing.
WEIGHT GAIN
Your craving for a cigarette can be confused with hunger pangs, since your mouth has been used to oral stimulation (cigarettes). Again drink plenty of fluids, snack on low fat bars or keep some raw carrot and celery strips in the fridge.
HEADACHES. Take a hot shower, try to meditate and cut down on your coffee and cola intake.
CRAVINGS. For that cigarette, nicotine is a strong addictive drug, the withdrawal will be noticeable for the first 2-3 days, wait them out - they usually only last 3 - 6 minutes.
MENTAL. You may experiance emotional syptoms when you first quit.
Some of the feelings you may also experience; insomnia, mental confusion, vagueness, anxiety, irritability, bad temper but depression is the most common in the short term.
FATIGUE. Remember Nicotine is a stimulant, try and get some extra sleep and do some walking don't overdo it but try to be a bit more active. Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day, this will speed up your detox and quit smoking symptoms.
