Cold turkey is basically stopping with no aid, just making up your mind to do it and quit. Two of the most common problems when quitting cold turkey are severe dry mouth and headaches. Combating both these problems is not difficult and all you should do is treat it in a way as if it wasnt related to cigarettes. For dry mouth keep yourself hydrated. Sucking on sweets and drinking thick pulp juices keeps the mouth hydrated much longer than water. For a headache all you need to do is to take a headache tablet. Another point to remember is out of sight is out of mind. By ridding your house and work environment of anything or everything to do with cigarettes will help. Dont even keep your ashtrays and lighters. Try to avoid places where cigarettes are bought. You would be surprised at how easy you could find yourself with a cigarette in your mouth before realizing that you are trying to quit. If you do manage to light up another cigarette dont just give up on quitting but start the whole procedure over again. That means destroying any cigarettes and smoking aid that you have purchased. The main thing to remember is that you want to quit so keep trying. Even if you have to resolve to take patches or gum, it will be a lot better than starting to smoke again.
