R4 Card Needs New Firmware To Work On Newest Nintendo Dsi Update

Getting a firmware update for any game system these days is more than norm

, than the exception, and it's the same whether you have the Sony PSP or your trusty old Nintendo DS or DSi console. WIth a new firmware update, there is sometimes the risk that your card will simply not work. In this case the Nintendo R4 card, but an updated to the R4 Firmware will also fix this issue in no time.

Why am I talking about this? Well, Nintendo just released an update for their Nintendo DSi systems (some NDS Systems like the DS Lite as well), it's actually their very first update in about a year. The update does not add any new functionality to the device, but instead provides "behind-the-scenes improvements to system performance." Translation: Several DSi flash cartridges, which enable the use of homebrew or pirated software, have been blocked.

As such, we are recommending that our customers do not update their firmware as there is absolutely no need to do so, especially in light of no new features or functions that are added by way of the update for the Nintendo DSi.

If you like your homebrew games and can't imagine being without your NDS homebrew applications, simply do not update to the newest firmware until further notice. Your homebrew games, and apps and the developers behind them are not going anywhere. Just the way updates have rendered R4 Cards incompatible in the past, the manufacturers are always very quick to address these issues and they will have no problem updating their on firmware to let you keep playing your games and appls, etc.. on your Nintendo DS.

With the help of the built in movie player, you'll also be right back to watching your favorite movies again, as soon as the firmware update is completed.

Just as a refresher, the R4 is an NDS Flash card that allows you to power up your Nintendo DS or DSi console by allowing you to store and load games, homebrew applications, MP3 music, eBooks and Movies, all on tiny little microSD Cards. It works, looks, and does exactly what a normal Nintendo DS game card does, with benefits of course, because it allows you to turn your Nintendo DS into a multi media entertainment system in your pocket.

As soon as a firmware update is released, I shall be updating you all with another article and will list all of the new features and functions of the latest R4 Card firmware update. I will not update this article, but will write a new article, so as I said, make sure you keep checking back for updates.
