RV Campground Basics: What You Need to Know

Determining an RV campground that best suits your needs can require a bit of advanced research. Before you hit the road, it is important to know exactly what time of campground you will be staying inor at least the type you want to stay in.

Recreational vehicles, or RVs, as they are called, are large vehicles that can be either towed or driven into the great outdoors to use as base camps for family adventures. They provide shelter, comfort, safety, security, and many of the luxuries we urban dwellers have become used to as a part of normal 21st century life in the RV Campground Basics.

There are two main types of RV campgrounds public and private. You can find many public campgrounds at state and national parks, while private campgrounds are found near these landmarks instead of at them. Public campgrounds typically have less to offer than private campgrounds; whereas private campgrounds provide a range of options, amenities, and hookups for their travellers, instances of any type of hookups are rare at public campgrounds.

Hookups are another important factor to consider when choosing the right RV campground. The most extensive types of RV campgrounds are full-hookup campgrounds, which provide sewage, water, and electrical hookups. These come in handy for a longer stay at the campground. For shorter stays, try primitive campgrounds, which don't have any type of hookups at all and are the least expensive, or campgrounds with just electrical and water hookups like in the RV travellers and trippers.

Finally, you must also consider whether or not you want to attend an RV camp resort that can include a camp store, WiFi Internet access, and a swimming pool, to name a few. Obviously, these are the most expensive places to stay, but they will be the most accommodating and make you feel like you pulled your RV into its own hotel.

Regardless of the type of RV campground you choose to stay in, don't forget to check out the places you are interested in staying in beforehand so you aren't greeted with any last minute surprises when you check in.
