Many holiday celebrations include a vehicle rental for whatever reason and what better

way to enjoy the holidays that finding a really good deal on a rental that is less than what you have budgeted. As great as this sounds, there are some things that anyone considering a rental should be aware of. A few simple tips can save you some serious bucks beyond the holidays.

Renting a vehicle at the right time of the year is vitally important if you are looking to save money on a rental. For instance, many families find that taking a vacation or traveling during the year is much less expensive than waiting until the holidays to take family trips. This bundle of savings can be huge and getting the kids excused from school isn't a problem for most school districts or teachers if the child has no history of school or class discipline. Also if you just shift your traveling by just one day either at the beginning or the end of your trip, this could equal noticeable saving you can pocket. Knowing just a few good tips can make your savings grow considerably in no time.

A very significant factor to saving money on a rental vehicle has to do with the location of the rental office and the convenience of that location, such as an airport car rental kiosk. Many rental agencies will add extra rental fees and surcharges for such a convenient location for their cars and customers. This is similar to a convenience store; they charge more because they are offering and selling you convenience.

If you are really looking for a deal then consider picking up and dropping off your rental vehicle at a location that is closer to your accommodations. Doing this will usually allow you the opportunity to take a shuttle from the airport to and from the hotel and in some cases may even allow you to cut down the number of days of your rental by one or two, saving you some additional money as well.

You would really be surprised by the money you can save by choosing the right rental company or agency. You could either pay a reasonable rate or pay way too much. Smaller companies try to use the lower per day rate as a selling tool, but the reality is that there are larger out of pocket expenses that could be incurred and if there is a problem while the vehicle is in your rental possession, your trip could be interrupted and very expensive to get back home.

When a rental is necessary to make your holiday plans complete, it should never be a worry guessing game that will jeopardize the happiness of your holiday plans. Happy holidays always require less stress especially when renting a vehicle.
