In order to complete a radiology technician certificate program, you will need to have taken radiology technician classes already in anatomy and physiology, biology, medical imaging science and diagnosis, pathology, radio pharmacology and more. The certificate program typically takes two years and prepares students for caring for patients, following safety procedures, using all necessary equipment and adhering to the health care code of ethics. Then after passing the necessary exams, you will be certified.

The radiology training for an associates degree in radiology technology will begin once the student has completed some basic courses including English, math and science, after which the courses on radiological procedures begin. These radiology technician courses will include clinical radiology, maintenance of the radiologic machines, medical terminologies, radiographic positioning and safety procedures. After some experience and training on the job, you may choose to specialize in CT or MRI.

In order to get a radiology technician bachelors degree, which will help you get higher management positions, you need to either show proof of high school graduation and SAT scores to start as a freshman or have completed an associates degree to transfer in as a junior. Your radiology technician classes will include anatomy and physiology, business and financial skills, human development and psychology, leadership and management courses, physics and radiology techniques. Then you will be able to work as a diagnostic imaging director, head radiological technologist or trainer for other radiological technologists.
