Rainwater Harvesting Is Becoming More Popular

Many people in the UK have forgotten exactly how fresh water arrives at their homes

. For many, it is taken for granted that you simply twist a tap and water arrives. But how many people actually take the time to think about the processes the water must go through to reach a home?

People such as Matthew Rolph of SCP Environmental Ltd makes it a point to try and educate people about how water is fast becoming scarce and much more effort is needed to promote local water storage and the benefits of re-using rainwater. Efforts such as his are going a long way towards promoting saving water, and making rainwater harvesting much more popular.

Rainwater harvesting is now becoming more popular in the UK for both residential customers and commercial customers. Many people are beginning to see that mains water costs a lot of money to cleanse and prepare for use, and that rain harvesting is an effective and eco-friendly way to provide water for families and staff. The cost of using mains water is only going to rise over the coming years, so by using a water storage tank to collect and reuse rainwater, a home or business can rely much less on the mains water system, which not only saves money, but saves the environment too.

It's unsurprising then that many people are now opting to have underground storage tanks added to their properties in order to benefit from this water resource. After all, the water can be used for a multitude of different things. Those with large gardens for example can use an underground Graf Carat tank or several tanks linked together, to store water to keep plants and lawns green and healthy throughout the summer, all without the need to tap into the mains water supply.

Storing water isn't just a method that's used for gardeners either. You can use recycled rainwater from your Graf Carat tank for just about anything. You can keep your car clean from the summer dust, and you can also clean clothes and clean floors etc. You can even wash your windows using your rain harvesting system. In addition, one of the best uses for reused rainwater is filling your toilet cistern. Much of the mains water we use gets flushed straight down the toilet, water you've paid for! So it makes sense to switch to recycled rainwater for this task.
