Preparation of Jaw Crusher for Storage
a. General. Detailed instructions for preparing the Jaw Crusher for limited storage Is outlined in this paragraph. Limited storage is defined as storage not to exceed 6 months. Refer to AR 749-505.
b. Inspection. Refer to paragraph 176b.
c. Cleaning and Drying. Refer to paragraph 176c.
d. Painting. Refer to paragraph 176d.
e. Depreservation Guide. Refer to paragraph 176e.
f. Cooling System. Refer to paragraph 176f.
g. Lubrication System. Refer to paragraph 176g.
h. Sealing of Openings. Refer to paragraph 176h.
i. Fuel Tank. Tanks will be drained and sprayed or fogged with type P-10, grade 2, engine preservative oil conforming to Specification MIL-L-21260.
j. Hydraulic Control System; Except Hydraulic Brake. Refer to paragraph 176j.
k. Exterior Surfaces. Refer to paragraph 1761.
l. Batteries and Cables. Refer to paragraph 176n.
m. Draining of Equipment. Accumulated water will be drained from the equipment. Depressions will be shrouded or provided with drip holes for drainage.
n. Pneumatic Tires. Pneumatic tires standing in storage under load will be inflated to the proper pressure. When the equipment is blocked and all weight is removed from the tires, deflate tires to two-thirds normal tire pressure.
o. Air Receivers. Refer to paragraph 176p.
p. Disassembly. Disassembled Parts, Basic Jesus Items. Refer to paragraph 176q.
q. Hoses and Couplings. Refer to paragraph 176r.
r. Weatherproofing. Covered storage is preferred by the jaw crusher. When covered storage is not available, select a Arm, level, well drained storage location, protected from prevailing winds. Position the equipment on heavy planking or other solid surfaces. Block the equipment in a manner to remove all weight from the tires. Cover the equipment with a tarpaulin or other suitable waterproof covering end tie down securely.
Inspection and Maintenance of Jaw Crusher in Storage
a. General. When the Jaw Crusher has been placed in storage, all scheduled preventive maintenance services, including inspection, will be suspended and preventive maintenance inspection will be performed as specified herein. Refer to AR 748-606.
b. Inspection. When initially placed in limited storage and every 90 days thereafter, the Jaw Crusher will be inspected and serviced in accordance with subparagraph 1786. Deficiencies will be corrected promptly to assure that the Jaw Crusher is ready for immediate use.
c. Exercising. After performing the above inspection and servicing, operate the Jaw Crusher long enough to bring it up to operating temperature and insure complete lubrication of all bearings, gears, and the like. Represerve Jaw Crusher in accordance with paragraph 178 after operation.
