Located in the fruit bowl of Kumaon, Ramgarh

Historically Speaking
This hill resort once served as a British army cantonment. The colonial architecture can be seen in the Ramgarh bungalows. These bungalows, now heritage properties comprise of the famous Old Bungalow of the 1830s, Vista Villa and The Writers Bungalow (1860). The interiors of these bungalows still
retain the old world charm. The house of one of the luminaries of Hindi literature, Mahadevi Varma, in Ramgarh village in Nainital district has been transformed into a national museum by the Government of Uttaranchal. This initiative has been taken to treasure the memory of the great writer and freedom fighter.

Ramgarh does not have any shopping malls and for those who are looking to buy souvenirs, Nainital(approximately 26 kms from Ramgarh) would be the best bet.

Spring and summer (March to June) are a good time to visit Ramgarh. The monsoons are best avoided. Winter is good but cold.
