Rancho Cucamonga City Tackles Foreclosures In Unique Way
Rancho Cucamonga is tackling foreclosures in a unique way with its own individual stamp under the guidance of the Mayor and the City Council
. Highly skeptical of the federal measures that is yet to have any visible impact on the quality of local life and living, the city has decided to initiate its own measures to contain the menace of increasing number of
foreclosures. It is no longer willing to wait for White House to deliver the goods while the local economy and family lives are ruined. By Ordinance 802 builders can extend checking of their plans for an extra year without payment of further fees. Furthermore development impact charges can be paid at the end of the completion of the project rather than the beginning.Advanced GIS mapping methods are being used to trace and mark the local
Repo homes. This would enable the administration to follow the trends, locate the potential problems even before they actually surface. Realtors and potential buyers will also benefit from this step. Good deals will be easier to locate. The curse of vacant houses will be prevented from getting even a toehold on the city.
An additional ordinance has been passed that has made it mandatory for banks to maintain properly all foreclosed units. Two workshops have been held to help families succumbing to foreclosures. The latest event was held in March. Over 700 in requiring assistance attended it. More workshops are being planned. In tandem with Congressman David Dreier, State Senator Bob Dutton, State Assemblyman Bill Emerson the county of San Bernardino held a successful job fair. Over 6,000 unemployed persons participated and many found employment to tide over these difficult days. The city is also working together with Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce to chalk out plans for holding such events again without much delay.
Simultaneously the city is in touch with the federal stimulus officials. No stone has been left unturned for the benefit of the city. An application has been made for $106 million for operating various improvement jobs. If it gets the green signal then 1,700 jobs will be created in the locality. Already $275,195 has been approved for community development in the form of block grant. This will replace anachronistic methods of public improvement functioning in those neighbourhoods that are eligible as per yardstick of income. There is immediate hope of receiving $1.6 million for making improvements in energy consumption. This will enable the launching of green home loans. All this will help the city to get back into the mainstream current.
