There are different rental rates, locations and perks that come along with these student oriented living establishments, so if you are looking for a new place to live that is still close to campus but not on campus, you are going to have to do some research before you just pop on into the first place you come across.

In recent years, the rental rates throughout the city itself has risen by an average of 1.05 percent, according to a recent survey done by the University of California, Davis. They do this survey every year to provide the community with information for future planning and growth. The average rental rate increase for UC Davis apartment rentals and rentals throughout the city is just a bit shy of 4.4%. It seems that economists and urban planners consider a vacancy rate for these apartments of 5% to be ideal for what landlords have available and what tenants who come to the area want. In only three short years, between 2002 and 2005, this vacancy rate has varied significantly, from a low of 0.2% to a high of 4.2%.

The average monthly rent for unfurnished, two bedroom UC Davis apartment rentals is $1,226. By the way, two bedroom apartments are the most abundant type of unit, accounting for 45% of units in the city. Rent on average for apartments of all sizes and kinds is on the rise, for the most part. The highest rise in monthly rent was for furnished studio apartments, rising 28.81 percent from an average of $611 to $787. Only one type of unit, the one bedroom furnished unit. Interestingly enough, the rent for these fell from $847 to $746. If you are going to be looking for UC Davis apartment rentals, you may want to take this information into consideration.

Keep in mind that these numbers are only averages, and that while some complexes may have rental rates that are increasing, there may be others that are not or are even going lower. Make sure no matter where you decide to live off campus that you find a place that is secure, close to where you need to be on campus and that the UC Davis apartments you are considering are affordable and near shopping centers.
