Read music fast without playing like a out of control vehicle
Being able to read music fast is a skill that is not too hard to learn
. But if we are honest yourself or others you know are just plain terrible at it. Most times due to poor teaching. Or bad learned habits. Either way we all want to come out sounding much better.
The best way to do this is by going back to the basics. There is a guy who teaches people how to read music in a evening. And he always starts them at the bare basics. On top of that he keeps it down to 3 and only 3 things for brevity. The are melody, rhythm, and harmony.
For him it's vital to start with each on individually and then come back to tie them all together. Where some people fall of is that they get one piece and run with it. Never getting the meat of it all. It's like over working one muscle. Things get out of proportion.
Along with those three simple things you have to throw in consistent practice daily. Don't be so eager to blast through. Actually read the music first thoroughly before playing. If you are so lucky try to play with an ensemble. Group work will keep you in a nice tempo. Not to mention it's good work on your timing.
They guy who teaches people how to read music in one evening has been teaching this for a few decades now. He does not promise to make put the world on fire. However you will come out with a firmer understanding if you can turn of the tv and put in the work.
