Real Estate Cards: Appreciate Your "junk Mail"
Each week we receive tens of flyers and coupons of junk mail by post
. Very rarely do we look to keep it. In fact, most of the time things like real estate postcards fall from our mailboxes and just eventually decompose in our front yards. Of course, one shouldn't always overlook these advertisements. In many situations, they're an important part of the company's image and acknowledging receipt of them might get you somewhere.
Nowadays when people are looking around for clearance items or some sort of discount, they go no further from their desktop computer. They do a quick google search, print a coupon, and on they go.
Regrettably, this online world has done quite a number on what the true intentions of paper mailings used to be and that's opening the doors to a business relationship.
Sure companies are all equipped with webpages, and that will from now on remain the go-to source of contact. However, what many people don't realize is that real estate is still a very involved person-to-person conversation. It relies on getting to know clients and on becoming comfortable with them.
Since most of the world is caught up in this online parade, they've grown less attentive to the real estate postcards that come pouring in. If they made time to notice, they'd see the volume that's sent around isn't to pester, but to demonstrate how open realtors are toward house-hunting. While others have thrown in the towel, they're still trying to have the human connection: the kind where they bring an exciting phase of life to a searching couple, to a budding family. They want to make a difference with a little extra thought.
Of course, it's not all about what the real estate postcards are symbolizing. It's also about what the postcard could potentially get you.
One reason is referral-based incentives. In today's economy, it is a buyer's market through and through. To contend with this trend, realtors have flowered up their methods of communication with small prizes.
Now, the rewards may range from a small gift to something grander, like a lower commission rate, or a generous gift card. Whatever the case, it's the idea that you may get something all for taking the time to read what you once took as junk mail. There's something to be said for the timeless "Don't judge a book . . ." adage.
In the end, though, it isn't necessarily a free gift. What it really is is a chance to build a better relationship. Isn't that what we want in the times of today that are so busied with profit mongers and electronic billboards? It's a good feeling to travel back in time, if even just with a phone call and a handshake.
What's more is you don't know where that handshake may just take you. Perhaps you're not looking for a new house, perhaps you really don't have any use for real estate postcards in the moment. But, just by not taking the opportunity for granted, you may already have a friend to walk with you should the situation call for it. Who doesn't like the sound of that?
