Secondly, regular meditation is known to promote good health. This is because there seems to be a correlation between psychological stress levels and physical health. Many studies have shown that increased levels of stress, inevitably led to a higher incidence of chronic heart diseases and health-related anomalies. Thus, through a reduction in stress, meditation may be helpful in promoting the overall well being of our physical body. In addition, one of the many health benefits of meditation also includes a relief of physical suffering associated with some diseases. Hence, one can conclude that meditation is not only a preventive measure to health problems, but is also a therapeutic one.
Thirdly, meditation can lead to mental bliss and a peace of mind. It takes us to the root of happiness within ourselves. This is because without mental peace, it is difficult to be happy despite having pleasant external circumstances. Paradoxically, meditation will point out to us that contentment resides within ourselves and it is independent of our external situation.
Lastly, the practice of meditation can aid us to search for our purpose in life and discover our true selves via an introspective approach. In other words, it sheds light to the perennial question of who we exactly are. Though there are many desirable benefits of meditation highlighted in this article, it is unrealistic to experience all of them in the preliminary stage as the mind takes time to train. In addition, it is also hard to elucidate all its benefits because meditation leads us to a mental dimension that transcends language.
