Reason and revelation do not have a happy marriage. Divorce in most cases is the inevitable result. They might be resembled to two ryes that never meet but can go in parallelism for even. They might cross one another but causing terrible short electric circuits and can damage the train path for a while.

Reason is human mind working its way to justify one thing or one phenomenon or one eventuality. Revelation on the other hand is a belief system that justifies for man what he ought to think and believe. If we consider revelation as the product of humans and not the divine, for there is no proof or disproof for the concept of the divine, then we are left with human thought all the way.

Thus the onerail deals with human thought and reasoning while the other deals with the same thing.

They both meet at the origin, should the origin be human all the way. Reason and revelation might cross one another to validate an idea or another.

For example who made the universe? Who made humans and who controls life and death? Here reason sets out to look into the sensible to reach the intelligible. But both revelation and reason have one thing in common, our perceptible universe that is.

But revelation proclaims metaphysical frameworks and paradigms that can be true or false. No way to verify for it is not subject to reasoning and particularly rational reason at that.

Rational reasoning, whatever the term means or indicates, is concerned with what can be observed and verified perceptively, sensibly and empirically. Metaphysical thinking is not subject to such empiricism. Metaphysical thinking can be exemplified in revelations. Revelations are premises of divine origin that are revealed unto humans in one way or the other.

The plausibility of revelation is harder to establish, if at all. The plausibility of imaginative and conjectural human reasoning can touch on the real and remain on this level or can fly away into conjecture.

Both are subject to personal convictions. Science breaks away with both revelation and metaphysical reasoning to establish its own criterion on proof and empiricism.

But science does not, unfortunately, resolves the enigmatic mysteries of the universe, matter, time, being, origin and finality of things. It is simply not its subject matter. For God the ultimate object of revelation and metaphysical speculation cannot be subject to the laboratory analysis of the chemist or the biologist. But both scientists make up their own convictions about belief in God or not. They are simply obliged to, no other option is dispensable.

However, in optimistic visions reason and revelation can meet together forming a thunderbolt short, or long, circuit of electro-spiritual escapades unveiling truth, whatever truth is. This is the inner task of the inner eye of our mind. It is the sparkle of our souls.

The crux of matter is lack of proof. But this very lack of proof underlies the whole structure of human belief and disbelief. Never to be neglected or stumped out, as most imbecile bipeds do.
