I am in the process of completing business school. In fact, I only have one semester left to go. When I get the chance, I like to get my hands on various financial newspapers and pore over them. While I love quite a few publications, this page will focus on why I favor the Wall Street Journal subscription.

As a student, I have found one of the best places to read publications is the school or city library. Most of the libraries I've been too carry the Wall Street Journal, Barrons, and other major publications. What's more, some of them also have expensive newsletters such as the Value Line Investment Survey.

Individuals who are exclusively interested in stock market analysis would probably benefit most by reviewing a publication like Value Line. Utilizing a complex rating system, they have been able to deliver consistently good stock picking information to subscribers.

Many people out there, however, want not just stock picking information, but quality news coverage as well. For these people, I think the Wall Street Journal is the best choice. Unfortunately, this paper does not come cheap, and that's why I used to read it only at the library. In fact, you can expect to pay $2 an issue if you buy the paper at the newsstand.

By contrast, the price of a Wall Street Journal subscription is surprisingly affordable. In fact, current prices for a subscription are just $2.29 a week, and even less for the online edition. The price of a single issue at a retail location can therefore get you a whole week of the Wall Street Journal if you opt for a subscription. Additional benefits enjoyed by members include access to an online markets data center. Depending on your subscription level, you can view the paper over the Internet as well.

For me personally, the greatest thing is that I can enjoy the paper at home now without having to go to the library. Many of my professors recommend the Wall Street Journal highly, and it's great that the paper can be gotten affordably when you sign up for a subscription.
