Down through history, humanity has lived near and has spent time upon the waters that covers a vast part of the planet. The effects of people living close to, traveling upon and extracting the resources beneath the surfaces of the waters has sometimes been devastating to this precious natural resource. There have been what some have termed man-made disasters that have wreaked havoc on the aqua-systems on the planet; it is the responsibility of those who are somewhat of the reason for these calamities to provide cleanup and containment services for these unfortunate occurrences.

Among the resources that are available to aid in the cleanup of disasters on the waterways are floating turbidity curtains. Floating turbidity curtains work by containing pollutants or silt that has been stirred up due to construction work on or close to a body of water. Situations where floating turbidity curtains may be used include silt containment, shore work and for trash containment in water near a construction zone.

Silt Containment

When construction work is done on or near a body of water, sometimes it can result in an undesirable amount of silt being stirred up. In these situations, a floating turbidity curtain can be used by the contractor to contain the silt, lessoning the effect of the construction on the environment.

Shore Work

In situations where work is being done on a shoreline, the work may increase the amount of turbidity in the adjoining water to an abnormal level. To control the turbidity and provide containment, a floating turbidity curtain may be implemented by a contractor to protect the environment and comply with environmental regulations.

Trash Containment in Water Near a Construction Zone

Construction at times can be messy work. Construction zones near waterways have the potential of the debris from their work making its way into the water systems that are near by. The implementation of a floating turbidity curtain could do much to curtail this problem.
