This is what the fashionista have done with creepers. They have taken the hand-me-down of the heavy metal/rock and roll disco people, and created them anew for the 21st century baby.

Creepers shoes are iconic! We had to add the exclamation mark to truly labour the point that there are very few other shoes that are so quickly identifiable or associated with a single group of people than the creepers shoes are with the teddy boys, the grunge heads, the rockers and the rebellious youth of generations past.

Creepers have, along the years, been associated with those youthful sections of society that are looking for change, those that are trying to trigger the next bloody revolution. Just picture Vivian and Rick from the Young Ones, can't you just picture them with a pair of Doc Martin creepers on, trying to kick the $%@% out of the TV set? That's definitely the sort of trait that creepers expose, and this is true today, when you think about the type of people that are wearing creepers at the moment.

It's the same in all generations; there are those that want to overthrow the establishment. 'You're doing it wrong, they cry' as they try to brow beat the capitalist rulers into conceding defeat. Well, it's never worked before, and is somewhat emblematic of the 'Ivory Tower' syndrome of youth. They soon grow up into the Alan B'Stards of the world. Nevertheless, the creeper shoe has represented these disillusioned youths since at least the Second World War, when they were invented. Other notable wearers of the shoes, and people who we feel you will agree have that same rebellious attitude as Jessie J, are Cher Lloyd and Rihanna.

It would be a shame, therefore, for a generation to escape the creeper trend. No, if you are aged between 18 and 35, then this is a style of shoe that you should embrace at least once, even just for the experience. Most people will fail to understand the cyclical and symbolic nature of the shoe, but never mind, because they will definitely notice the shoe, and comment. If you want to stand out from the crowd then, the creeper shoe is certainly a shoe that will help you to do this.
