Not many people enjoy long hospital stays

Not many people enjoy long hospital stays. As a result, many post-op patients have looked to other options to recover after intensive surgery. Recovery centers are gaining notoriety among many elderly patients who want a more comfortable, private and enjoyable experience while they heal.

Recovery centers provide everything from assistance with daily tasks to rehabilitation and therapy. Similar to personalized post-op care, recovery centers will provide cooking, laundry and cleaning assistance. Some recovery centers have been going above and beyond to engage their patients in fun activities.

Freedom Home Health, a Central Ohio based home health care provider responded to the increasing need for recovery centers for the elderly by creating "The Recovery Room." They felt that making post-op care more fun for patients helps speed their recovery.

According to Kimberly Payne, Partner at Freedom Home Health, "By designing our program to allow safe recuperation in a clinical environment, while enjoying the services and amenities of a spa retreat, has yielded quicker patient recoveries."

Freedom Home Health is also the only home health agency nationwide to partner with a Geriatric Residency Program, in conjunction with The Ohio State University. With this partnership and a staff of highly trained therapists and nurses, there is very strong support system for every patient.
