Red Ledges Featured In Green Magazine
Red Ledges was lucky enough to be the focus of a fantastic article in the magazine Green
, in which it garnered excellent reviews.
The magazine features beautiful pictures, great words and even Dwayne Wade on the cover. Yep, that Dwayne Wade. Below is an excerpt of the article:
It took two years for Nicklaus and his team who worked tirelessly to carve, Red Ledges, the exclusive, four-season mountain golf community around the chiseled red Rocky Mountains. Since the topography of the Red Ledges area is so stunning and diverse, we were challenged to stay true to the Red Ledges vision by planning each hole around its natural surroundings, he stated. The result is nothing less than an exhilarating round that forces you to carefully evaluate each shot, framed by countless breathtaking views. We were able to nestle some holes around the famous sandstone ledges and situate other holes in juniper groves. I am delighted with how the course has turned out, stated Nicklaus. Red Ledges marks another imprint in Nicklaus timeless topographical footprints.
The morning air blanketed the course. Perched 150 feet on native burnt orange crag, is the 427-yard par 4. Its stunning view overlooks the neighboring Park City and Deer Valley ski resorts. Mercy lies on the tee box, a Nicklaus trademark, and it is the only place where it will be found. According to general manager, John Johnson, besides being most-forgiving off the tee, Nicklaus generally favors holes with a left to right ball flight. As scenic as it is challenging, this slight dog-leg right makes driver tempting, but a fairway wood is a safe choice. Drives bombed through the holes left side is five minutes wasted sifting through rocks, sage bushes and fallen carcasses.
Its a course you have to play two or three times before you get the hang of it, said head golf professional, Jon Paupore. A mere three months after its opening, Red Ledges shows promise and will likely hail as one of the wests top contenders. Upon its completion the Red Ledges community will feature a Jim McLean Golf School, a Cliff Drysdale Tennis Academy, spa, equestrian center, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and a 9-hole Nicklaus design short course. In adherence to Nicklaus philosophy, Red Ledges awaits you for your Duel In The Sun.
