2009 was a very busy year for Manchester-based web design agency RedStar Creative who added another key service alongside website development. They were contacted by JD Sports, the leading retailer sport and athletic inspired fashion apparel and footwear to help them launch a brand new store... on eBay. The move is part of a new business recruitment drive for the leading online auction and shopping portal to recruit leading retailers to their site including other high-street names such as Blacks, Debenhams, Goldsmiths and Morphy Richards. Working closely with both eBay and the internet, customer service, merchandising and warehousing teams at JD, RedStar produced a fully integrated application for JD that is totally automated with little human-intervention required. The solution integrated with the eBay Trading API: Imported product feeds from the warehouse, translating them into a relational database format Process stock information to create new eBay listings, update existing listings, and de-list out of stock product Download product images from Adobe Scene 7 to upload to Ebay Picture Services (EPS) XML Web Services to listen for purchases and transaction information Automated emails to customers to notify of orders being despatched Since the launch in Summer 2009, multi-national shipping has been added to the functionality of the project, and RedStar offer ongoing support and maintenance to the system. More recently, the firm has started to offer services direct to eBay and their other enterprise account customers, and more details will be released later in January. RedStar Creative are based in Manchester, and have been providing web design and development services since 2007.
