Rediscovering A Good Book, And Then Not Being Able To Put It Down.

The art of reading is one that has been lost throughout the years

. Now people do not tend to pick up a book in the evening but they resort to putting on the television or take to surfing the net for hours on end before bed. It has become far easier to entertain yourself and quite often without thinking about it you tend to do the easiest thing possible. Watching television doesnt usually tend to make you think that much, and you most certainly do not use your imagination when watching the television.

On the other hand understandably it does seem to be such a lot more effort to pick up a book, nowadays they just do not seem that appealing, however once you do make just that tiny little bit of extra effort to pick up a new book, as soon as you get into the read, you find it very hard to put it down.

Reading transports you to worlds that you never thought would be possible, and once you get into it you find yourself engrossed for hours on end. Granted finding a book that will do this is often quite hard to find however with online guides and reviews you can now use these to sift through all the unsuited books and find one that is just to your taste and one that you can straight away get stuck in to.

After speaking to a large number of students, querying their reading habits, I was shocked to discover that most of the students said that the only time that they read for pleasure and as a form of entertainment is whilst on holiday. When I asked them why this was the most common answer shockingly was that whilst at university they did not have time to read a book. Now I find several flaws in this reasoning, firstly I do not believe for one moment that students do not have any down-time or me time secondly, why are books said to be so time consuming? Surely with a book you can pick it up and put it down whenever you want? Plus you can take them anywhere. Therefore my challenge to all those reading this article is to find a book and begin it this week. Rediscover the art of reading and submerge yourself in another world for as little or as much time as you desire.
