Exercising is amazingly important for the body. There are so many different ways in which exercise is beneficial.

Through exercising the body can become physically stronger, faster, and fit. In addition the body will also develop a greater level of hand to eye coordination, flexibility, balance, and endurance.

Exercising does not only benefit the physical aspect of the body though. Studies have shown that people who start exercising usually experience heightened levels of self esteem and self confidence.


As a result of these things, these people usually will also take more of the opportunities that they are presented with. As these people pursue these activities with greater self esteem and self confidence they also usually experience greater levels of success and more success in general.

There are many other benefits that exercising has to offer the body as well. Unfortunately, the repetitive action of exercise can sometimes have negative consequences as well.

For example, even though the elliptical is much easier on the joints than the treadmill, many people may still feel some knee pain after exercising on it for a while. The more effectively and smoothly that your elliptical works, the less pain you should experience.

Knee pain is very common with most forms of exercise. However there are many ways that you can minimize this pain.

The first thing you should make sure you do as you exercise on the elliptical is use very smooth motions. The more fluid your motions are, the less impact you will be putting on your joints, and the less pain you should experience.

In addition, you will want to stop trying to force the pedals around and instead move with them. If this does not seem like enough of a workout, increase the resistance.

The momentum you develop from following the pedals will also help you be able to go faster and longer. This is much more beneficial to you in the long run because you will not be hurting your knees either.

The second thing you will want to make sure that you do not do is bounce while you are exercising on the machine. For one thing, this could damage the machine and make it not run as well.

A machine that does not run very well can affect the body adversely. The roughness and bumps that are developed can cause you to put more impact on your joints and you may experience greater pain in your knees.

For another thing, when you bounce, you are taking your feet off of the pedals and negating the positive benefits that the elliptical has over the treadmill. As you take your feet off of the pedals, you have to put them back down and this is generally done with more impact than when you simply keep your feet on the pedals.

Bouncing on the machine can greatly increase your knee pain. This may be surprising, but even half an inch of lifting your feet off the pedals can have a huge impact on your health.

The third thing you can do to reduce the pain in your knees is to pedal backwards every once in a while. This will change up your routine and it will give certain muscles a break while you put other to work.

This change in muscles, distribution of weight, motion, and pace can all relieve the pressure you have been putting on your knees by constantly going forward. The changes you introduce by going backwards will also strengthen your legs more and make it easier to go forward.

In addition, the change will be good for your mind. At times exercising can become mind numbingly boring. When this occurs it can be difficult to stay motivated to exercise when the rest of your body is screaming that it is tired.

By changing it up a little, you will wake up your mind and you may find a renewed energy and motivated to exercise. This is very important.


Another thing that can help you stay motivated to exercise despite the pain is setting goals. Your goals may have to do with losing weight, becoming stronger, or developing more endurance.

No matter what your goals are, you must write them down. If they are not written down it is easy to say that you are tired and forget about your goal.

However, with the proper goals and knowledge of the things you can do to reduce pain, you will stay motivated to exercise. You will never regret it.
