1. Are you pleased with the quality provided by your painter?

On exteriors look at concrete, roof and plants for paint drips, spills or over-spray. On interiors look at the lines and don't forget about the flooring. All lines should be straight and crisp and paint should only be on the desired surface you want painted.
3. Were the painters, respectful, courteous and pleasant?
This is a very important because the painters could be spending a day to a couple of weeks or more on your property or in your home. From beginning to end you want the project to be as stress free as possible. If your house painter has a great attitude enjoys their job, the quality and attention to details will be far superior. Your attitude can and will affect the entire paint job also. So find someone you like, you can talk to and who has your satisfaction and experience present in their mind.
4. Was the paint job started and finished on the agreed time? If not was there open and clear communication and agreed on solutions?
Arriving at the time they say they will arrive every morning reinforces a schedule, demonstrates integrity and help to eliminate stress and worry. With exterior jobs the weather always sets the schedule, but with clear communication everything can be worked out. Make sure you and your painter can communicate well, promptly and always willing to make a new plan and solution if needed.
5. Does your paint job come with a warranty or guarantee?
Get your painters guarantee in writing and ask for any paint manufacturers guarantee as well. Three to five years is common by a reputable painter on exterior.
