Indian print media has achieved top position as a huge business in the media world

. It provides majority of regional, national and international news. India is an incredible nation in all over the world where numerous regional languages are spoken by majority of population. While the official language of India is Hindi but secondary official language is English. Most of states have their own regional language such as Marathi in Maharashtra, Oriya in Orissa, Assamese in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bengali in West Bengal, Tripura, and Andaman & Nicobar Island, Bodo in Assam, Dogri in Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarati in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Standard Hindi in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, the national capital territory of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Kannada in Karnataka, Konkani in Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Maithili in Bihar, Malayalam in Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Manipuri in Manipur, and many more.

These regional languages have played an important role in the history of India. So, a large number of people are very comfort in communication. This is the main reason that is why several newspapers, magazine and journals are publishing over the years in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Oriya, Malayalam, Telugu, Urdu, Bengalis language. Today, most of magazines like India Today, The Sunday Indian, The Outlook, etc have initiated their issues to luring their readers. According to the NRS survey of newspapers regional newspapers are rapidly increasingly in several parts of India. If we focus on why regional magazines are growing rapidly and all newspapers/ journals and magazines are targeting local readers. The first reason appears the marketing strategy and the second that is most important in growing literacy rate. Increase in literacy rate is playing positive effect on the rise of circulation of the regional papers. It is a common tendency of any people takes first education in their mother tongue according to their state in which they are living for. People prefer read any thing in their regional language. Thus Indian language magazines/papers in India aim to provide localized news for their readers. Finally, the advertisers target local readers for sell their products. These advertisers paid revenues to the newspaper house and in return publicized their products throughout the locality. Thus, newspapers in India not only acted as news providers but also promoters of certain market products.
