Reining Horse Manes

. It's also sure to catch the judge's attention and gain higher scores. You too can have a luxuriously long, attention getting mane on your reining horse by following these simple tips.

First, get rid of your horse comb! This does more damage to the reining horse mane than anything else. Remove tangles and keep your horse's mane maintained by using only a stiff horse body brush or a stiff bristle human hair brush. Applying a spray gloss to your horse's mane such as show sheen or laser sheen will help to untangle your horse's hair.

Once your horses mane is tangle free, the next step is to shampoo his mane. You want to ensure that the mane on your reining horse is clean and free of sweet itch or anything else that is bothering your horse's mane. Any good quality horse shampoo will do the job of cleaning.

If your reining horse is rubbing out his mane, chances are that there's a problem. After you wash your horse's mane, you can treat it for problems. Listerine mouth wash is a great "cure all" for sweet itch, fungas, mites and other problems. It usually stops all things that will cause your reining horse to rub out hair on the mane. I put the Listerine in a spray bottle, and spray heavily along the roots of my horses mane or tail. Then I rub it in to my horses mane with my fingers and leave it to do its job.

You can dramatically increase the speed of growth of your reining horses mane by applying a home made growth formula. With this special recipe, you can expect to gain up to 4" of extra mane growth per month.
