Relationship Advice For Men - When To Pick Your Battles

Sometimes in life, you really do have to be able to pick your battles wisely

. This can be very true in the context of a relationship. Many couples end up in arguments over trivial things, and they will actually get to a point where a break up is possible, all because they did not choose their battles wisely. As a man, you have to be very careful that you don't pick an argument over something trivial, unless of course, you are looking to be single again.

Here are a few common situations that you may want to think carefully about before you start an argument:

1) You suspect that your girlfriend may be cheating on you.

While I would never suggest that you just ignore something like this, you also want to be sure that you are on the right track with an accusation like this. A lot of guys will let their insecurities get the best of them and they will accuse their girlfriend of cheating when nothing is going on and that leads to a lot of damage to the relationship. Sometimes, you cannot repair that kind of damage. You want to really be sure that you have some pretty good evidence other than a gut feeling that she may be cheating on you before you start an argument over this.

2) Anything that has to do with her family.

Sure, they may annoy the stuffing out of you. You might dread the idea of having to go and visit with her family or to have them come over to your place. Still, you don't really want to bring up that point unless you are ready for a pretty big argument. Family is one of those areas that can be very touchy and any argument regarding her family has the potential to blow up into something that you cannot get out of.

3) Anything that has to do with her friends.

Sometimes this can be worse than saying something about her family. This is especially true if the friend just happens to be her best girlfriend or a friend who she has known for a very long time. As much as you might want to say something to her about one of her friends, it's usually best to bit your tongue and keep it to yourself. Plus, you know that she is probably going to tell them about whatever you say and that can lead to some really awkward moments.
