Trying to sell a home in today's economy can prove to be frustrating

, but it doesn't have to be. If you're anxious to sell because of job relocation, you should know that there are other possible options.

Have you ever thought of swapping homes with another owner? Or how about renting it out as a vacation home? Today's economy has forced people to become creative. And in real estate, the possibilities are endless. You can move into someone else's home temporarily for example, while deciding on where to live permanently.

You can start out by posting a "For Rent" sign or placing an ad in major travel publications. You can rent your home out for a month, a season or a year. Take a good look around you and capitalize on your surroundings. Let's say you live near the Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. You could rent the house out for the duration of the polo season and make a nice profit. After all, polo enthusiasts come from all four corners of the globe to attend special events such as this one; and better yet, they don't mind the hefty price tag associated with seasonal rentals.

If you feel that your house is too big since the kids left for college, why not swap with another family? They might be looking for more space, while you're hoping to downsize. It's a great way to test out how you'll like living in smaller spaces prior to committing to a permanent change.

Make sure to conduct a thorough interview with the people you're renting to. Ask for references and provide them with a guideline of what you expect from them. Let them know how you want them to maintain your property, whether you'll allow them to smoke inside the house or whether they can have pets.

Once you have a tenant you can begin your moving process with peace of mind. You can start packing and getting on with your own business. You'll need to have a clear mind to do everything that needs to be done such as acquiring a few moving quotes.
