Summer time is once again here and you may be ready for taking your holidays

. Here are some reminders that may be important to remember before you take your vacation:

- Plan ahead. If you are able to plan ahead for your holidays, then you may be able to save some money. Planning two months ahead for your holidays enables you to source around for the most inexpensive places to stay. The internet is a great resource for looking at places to stay in the destination you are travelling to. There are so many deals that you can take and if you plan early you can get discounts from travel vouchers to places to stay. Some may even offer complimentary things like free breakfasts and the sort. Also, it doesn't hurt to email these places to see if they can give you additional discounts. They may even give you a complimentary day if you book and pay ahead, which can be done through online credit card transactions. Just make sure that you keep the email in writing regarding the offer by having it printed. Also, when you pay through credit card, make sure that the transaction is secure. More often than not, online transactions show on your browser that the server is a secured one through an icon on the lower right side of the browser.

- If going on a road trip, make sure that the vehicle is travel worthy. Check the battery, tires, lubricants and engines. One other thing we sometimes forget to check is the air conditioning of the vehicle since one is travelling during summer. It is advisable to go to an air con repair shop in the locality. An air con repair shop can give you a diagnosis of the status of your air conditioner. It will suggest to you if you need to put some CFC's in your compressor or if rubber belts need to be replaced. They will conduct a compressor test to see if your air conditioner is working properly. It is worth the trouble of doing this especially if you are going on a long car trip. A good rule of thumb is to make sure that you have your oil changed every 5000 kilometers and your transmission fluid changed every 10000 kilometers. Check on the level of your brake pads and see if they need to be replaced. Knowing you have a road worthy vehicle for the road trip insures you of a hassle free trip for the summer.
