Remodel Your Kitchen To Increase Your Home Value
The kitchen is one of the rooms in your home that can make or break a sale
. The kitchen, for most, is the heart of the home and if you are considering selling your home or upgrading your home to increase its value, consider starting with an update or remodel of the kitchen.
One of the first and easiest things you can do to update your kitchen is painting. Adding a fresh coat of paint can breathe new life into any kitchen. It doesn't cost a lot of money and doesn't take too long.
Another easy and fairly inexpensive way to update your kitchen is adding or updating hardware on your cabinets. You can find new handles and knobs at your local hardware store and add them by yourself in a day. If you are looking to do just a little bit more, consider refinishing the cabinets to give them an updated and fresh look. When refinishing your cabinets you could sand them down and stain the wood or simply paint them. A fresh coat of white on the cabinets can brighten up and cabinets. If just painting over the cabinets and adding hardware still won't make your cabinets up-to-date and you don't have the money to completely replace them, you could consider just finding new doors and drawer fronts. This can be more expensive than refinishing the cabinets but will help the kitchen look as good as new.
Flooring is another place that makes a big difference in the kitchen. If your kitchen has vinyl or linoleum in the kitchen, replacing it can instantly add value to your home. Replacing the vinyl or linoleum with tile is a good choice and you will have a lot of different options to choose from. You can choose from ceramic, porcelain or different types of natural stone tiles. Tile is also very durable and can stand up to wear and tear for a long time.
Updating the appliances is another great place to look when updating your kitchen. If you shop around and look for sales, buying and updating appliances doesn't need to cost a lot of money. Stainless steel appliances are a very popular choice right now, but if you can't afford stainless steel on your budget, buying new white or black appliances are a great option as well. Too keep the kitchen looking great, make sure all the finishes match when you buy new appliances.
Countertops are another great place to look to update your kitchen and add value. There are a lot of options for countertops like laminate, granite, solid surface, marble and even concrete. Upgrading from a laminate countertop to granite will instantly add value to your home. Your budget will often determine what type of countertop you can upgrade to, but look around, you can often find deals or sales on granite or other stone countertops.
