. Dress shirts are not like other casual shirts or T-shirts. When dress shirts are left uncared, soon the new look and durability of shirt is ruined. Caring about dress shirts is like caring of an investment, giving little attention will make its durability longer, and will keep it attractive in the years to come.
Removing red wine stains
One of the most common stains that dress shirts are generally exposed to is of red wine. It happens with most of us that while drinking, we unintentionally drop the red wine on our custom tailored shirts. Act swiftly but do not panic as in panic you might ends up in dropping some more wine on you. Never waste time and start the cleaning process before letting the wine stain set into the fabric. If red wine stain happens to get dry or just remain there for some considerable time, then for sure your shirt is ruined.
Start cleaning process by blotting with damp cloth to remove excess liquid. Do not rub, as it will further spread the stain and will weak the fabric threads. If you have access to white wine, pour it on the stain to dilute the red color that will make the cleaning process easy. If white wine is not readily available then try club soda. Take a piece of cloth, wet it in club soda and damp the stained area. Another home based process to remove red wine stain is to mix one teaspoon of laundry detergent in to one cup of hydrogen peroxide. Start blotting the stain until it disappears and then wash the shirt normally.
Before starting the cleaning process, make sure to place something behind the stain so that it does not bleed through the other side. You can also use cornstarch or talcum powder over the stain to absorb the red wine stain. Another important thing to remember is to make sure that the stain is totally removed before ironing the shirt or putting it in dryer, as it will make the stain permanent.
Removing candle wax
Removing candle wax from the tailor made dress shirt is not a difficult task as there are many ways to remove it. When the candle wax drops on your shirt, let it dry and remove the excess wax from knife. Some removing methods require low temperatures while others require high temperatures. Using high temperature method includes rubbing the ice cube on the wax, so the wax becomes solid hard and then scrub it with some pointed thing.
To remove the remaining wax, you will need to use low temperature. Take a teakettle or some bowl, which can easily contain boiling hot water then stretch the affected area of shirt right over in the middle of bowl. Make the water reach boiling level, lower and dip the affected area in boiling water. Now the wax will melt away in the water.
Another method to remove the candle wax is to take some paper bags, put the bags on the affected area of the shirt and start ironing the paper bag. Remember never turn the iron on its full temperature or it will burn the paper bag and will make further stains on the custom tailored shirts. The paper bag will absorb the wax, replace the paper and repeat the process until the wax is gone.
Removing collar ring stains
Collar ring stains is one of the major problems for many of the dress shirt wearers. Collar ring stains are created due to body oil or hair oil accumulation around the neck. If you do a full white-collar job then it is less likely for you to get collar ring stains every day. However, for people doing some physical work or fond of using hair oil or hair creams might get collar ring stains daily. Like for other stains, try to remove it as soon as possible. Washing shirts without first treating collar rings will make the collar stains harder to remove.
Before washing the tailor made dress shirt, it important to treat the collar ring stains first. Mostly collar stains are oil based, so using shampoo, dishwashing detergent or oil-removing products would be ideal. Wet the affected place and apply the removing product on it. Either rub the stain gently with toothbrush, with collar itself or if you fear color faint then rub it with your finger. Then soak the collar in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes; if stain persists, repeat the process again. After treating the stain, proceed with washing the shirt.
