There is always a time when you want to keep something as long as possible just because you have unforgettable stories related to the thing, or because you love it so much. That lovely thing could be a filing cabinet, so when the cabinet becomes "ugly", you would do anything to renew it, if possible.

When the look of your lovely things gets worse, you just need to do some tricks to disguise them. You can also apply this way if you want to a file cabinet to a room but it cannot match the room decor. It is unwise if you consider buying new cabinets just because you think that the new ones will match the rest of the decor, especially if you have limited budget.

To avoid you from spending much money to get newer furniture, you can simply cover the ugly file cabinet with something clever. The term clever here means something neutral or applicable for all themes of decor, such as table cloth. Choose one which is big enough to cover the cabinet. You can match the color with the room theme or simply use pastel colors as the safest way.

Then, try to drape the cloth. If the sides are very loose, you can gathering and fold them together before pinning the sides. If you do not have any idea about how to fold it, just think of the way you wrap a present.

Put a place mat on the top to add colors. The size of standard place mats is usually the same as that of the top of file cabinet with two drawers. To accentuate it, you can add some picture frames, a lamp, or candle. Putting flowers will also be good to add fresh look. These simple steps will change your ugly file cabinet into an attractive one!
