Rent Tickets Orlando - Rent's Two Leading Gents Get Auctioned Off

In what's sure to be the charity event of the year for the Broadway smash hit Rent

, the acclaimed musical is teaming up with the HIV/AIDS fundraising organization Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) to auction off its two leading actors, Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal. In this highly-anticipated auction now taking bids, Rapp and Pascal are up on the auction block as a pair, with the highest bidder winning a post-performance dinner with the two actors on Dec. 2 after the production's show in Orlando.

The current Rent auction opened on Nov. 16 and closes on Dec. 1, with proceeds from the event going to benefit the charitable Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Bidders can find the event for auction on websites eBay or charitybuzz, and one Rent fanatic will be ecstatic to win dinner with these two musical megastars, both of whom created their roles as Roger Davis (Pascal) and Mark Cohen (Rapp) in the original Broadway production and film version of the hit musical.

Both Pascal and Rapp have also reprised their roles for the U.S. national tour of Rent, which is currently soaring through the country this fall and winter with a slew of tour dates. Rent flies into Orlando for a brief stop from Dec. 1-6 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, and Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal aren't the only well-known actors bringing the reprisal of the musical to center stage in Orlando. The national tour of Rent also features Nicolette Hart as Maureen Johnson, Justin Johnston as Angel Schunard, Lexi Lawson as Mimi Marquez, Michael McElroy as Tom Collins, Jacques C. Smith as Benjamin Coffin III and Haneefah Wood as Joanne Jefferson, marking a superstar cast for the colorful production.

Rent, one of the most popular Broadway productions of the decade, was the brainchild of composer and playwright Jonathan Larson, who transformed the Giacomo Puccini opera La boheme into a modern-day adaptation of the story following eight friends, artists and musicians struggling to survive New York City's harsh Lower East Side. Wrought with subject matter including AIDS, homosexuality and, of course, the performing arts, Rent made its off-Broadway debut in 1994, quickly paving the way to Broadway. Next debuting at the Nederlander Theatre on Broadway on April 29, 1996, the dazzling show Rent became an instant classic with theatergoers, with Rent tickets Orlando selling out for several shows.

Rent ended its reign on Broadway in 2008, more than 12 years and 5,000 performances after its inception, and a national tour spawned shortly thereafter, with the 2009 national tour of the production launching in January. Now that the electric Rent will be bringing its rousing theatrics to the big stage in Orlando this December, theatergoers in Florida can catch the musical's most phenomenal songs like "Seasons of Love" as they're performed live with tickets online to one of the tour's few performances in the Sunshine State.

The winner of the BC/EFA auction in Orlando will also get to pick the brains of Rent's biggest stars Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal at a post-show dinner, making the performance of Rent even more thrilling than ever.
