Toyota Motors, the Japanese company that manufactures cars had closed the bookings
of its highly popular SUV, the Toyota Fortuner because of the huge demand and supply backlog thus it has reopened the SUV's bookings once again. The car was launched in August 2009 and the company has stopped taking bookings for Toyota Fortuner a month later because of the high booking number of 5000 units which the company had trouble to supply. Even if the company has announced the reopening of bookings in May 2010, it did so in July and halted it again in August 2010. The reason for this was because during that month, the company received a booking for 3004 units and the total order backlog accumulated 6 056 units.
It appears that the company is prepared this time to cater to a large demand. Also there is not a company that can afford to hold back the demand owing to the fierce competition in the market. Another sedan model that is highly popular from the car maker's stable is Toyota Etios that has started with its production at its second plant in Bangalore. The car, just fifteen days after its launch had about 15 000 bookings and the customers can now finally take the Japanese wonder home especially that the mass manufacturing of the car has begun. The sedan would also give a tough competition to the following car models in the segment: Tata Manza, Maruti Swift Dzire, Mahindra Logan and others.
The company is also set to launch its first ever hatchback the Toyota Etios Liva which was unveiled last December with the sedan and will be released in April this year. The company has announced the localization of components in Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva to be 90 percent from the existing 70 percent, for the coming year 2013. This would not only make the availability of parts easy and it would also stabilize the price of the cars on a high pedestal in the car market.
