In their Chicago apartment in 1930, Luther Replogle and his wife

, Elizabeth, began assembling the first globes. This was a very bold move at a time when the US would be plunged into the great depression. The aim, despite the economic difficulties of the time, was to put a Replogle globe in every home.

Since then, Replogle Globes has become the worlds leading globe manufacturer. It is still based in Chicago, housed in a 260,000 square foot facility, where few things havent changed since 1930. A hand crafted Replogle globe can be found in the offices of presidents and dignitaries, as well as school classrooms and households. The magic of a Replogle globe has not disappeared.

Replogle Globes are still hand-assembled by master craftsmen. Map gores are expertly hand cut and hand applied to the globe, indicative of the commitment to quality and excellence that makes a Replogle globe unique. It is also a prime reason why Replogle globes have maintained their appeal, not only as a learning tool, but as an item that adds a touch of class to any office or study.

Maps on Replogle globes show nations, colonies, possessions, boundaries, and place names as officially approved by the U.S. Government. Often, a note is made of political claims by neighbouring nations, but land colour and borders are shown in accordance with the regions true political affiliation or status. Often, alternative or former place names are also shown in parentheses. In this way, Replogle globes serve the ongoing needs of both serious students and the ordinary user.
