Research Is Still Needed To Find Prostate Cancer Causes

Cancer is something that still needs future study and research

. One of these topics is what causes prostate cancer is linked to. It is not completely clear what cause prostate cancer, but some links have been found in DNA. Prostate cancer causes are linked to a change in the DNA of a normal prostate cell. DNA essential helps to control how our cells behave. Parents pass DNA traits to their children. A small percentage of prostate cancers are linked to DNA.

Studies have shown a prostate cancer cause in certain mutated genes have been found in men with prostate cancer. Some of these genes are mutated during the life of a man and are not inherited. Every time a cell divides into two it makes a copy of its DNA. Sometimes during the process a mistake happens and the flawed DNA does not produce proper results. Sometimes this causes the cells to grow and divide more quickly. These cells also go on living when other cells would normally die. Higher levels of certain hormones such as testosterone can play a part in prostate cancer causes as well.

Studies have shown that certain risk factors are linked to prostate cancer. These risk factors include: age, race, nationality, family history, genes and inflammation of the prostate or prostatitis. Prostate cancer is most common in men over the age of 65, although the risk increases drastically after the age of 50. Prostate tends to be more common in men of the African American race, than in any other races. The mortality rate is also higher. The reasons for these differences are not clear.

Prostate cancer is most common in North America and Northwest Europe than in Asia, Africa and Central and South America. Again it is not completely clear why there is a difference in these countries. Prostate cancer seems to be linked to families. Men that have a father, brother or son with prostate cancer have a higher risk of also having prostate cancer. Some studies suggest that inflammation of the prostate gland may also increase the risk of getting prostate cancer. Risk factors still dont reveal everything and some people with one or more of these risk factors may still never develop prostate cancer. So while research has proven there is some knowledge about prostate cancer cause, there is still much more research that needs to go into understanding the cause of prostate cancer.
