Residential Wind Generators: Why Are They So Popular Now?

Residential wind generators have become almost commonplace these days in some locations around the country

. There are a variety of reasons they have come into their own and solid drivers causing them to have moved off the farm and out of the world of the hobbyist.

It wasn't long ago that these devices were only used by the few zealots who believed there was a better way than burning coal. That is, folks who either were too far away from public utilities to make proper use of them or, people that wanted to make their own power with renewable energy devices like home wind turbine kits because they were not buying into the status quo of energy production.

That has all clearly changed now

We are running out of fuels for traditional sources of electricity generation - All forms of fossil fuels are being burned up at an alarmingly fast rate. With China and other emerging societies ramping up their energy consumption, the acceleration in the decline of our supply of these natural resources to burn is proceeding on a path to use them all up within a generation or two. This dire prediction that we will run out of resources within the next 2 generations is based on extrapolating from our current pace of consumption as well. It does not take into account the fact that other emerging societies may be coming to the party later and raising the consumption of fossil fuels even more.

Climate change - We all know and pretty much agree that the chief culprit in the climate change debate is power production. Large utilities put out most of the pollution in this world and as more plants are being built to handle society's demand for electricity, more and more greenhouse gases are being put out in the atmosphere, which of course contributes to our perceived climate change problems. Whether or not we agree that climate change is a major factor, we all do intuitively understand the pollution that these power production facilities puts out is impacting our world in some very negative ways.

Desire for energy independence - With all of the uncertainty in the world today regarding if we will have fossil fuel resources to power our power plants going forward, we all are thinking about how nice it would be to rely only on own sources of supply. With residential wind generators this is not only a possibility but a likelihood.

In conclusion, residential wind generators will have an increasingly powerful role in painting our energy mosaic going forward. With renewable energy playing an increasingly in important part in our daily lives, we all need to learn about the options regarding wind turbines and what we can do to employ them at home.
