Memory problem is common among computer users. Its better to know about few steps you can perform yourself to troubleshoot your system then to call a tech support guy to fix your issue.
To resolve memory related problems it is very important to identify the reason. However, to fix your problem; you may start by asking one of these questions:
You recently purchase your system? If there is problem with a newly purchased system then it would be better to contact the vender, retailer or the store from where you buy the system. Sometime your system is still under warranty.
Did you upgrade memory by adding new memory chips? You should check either newly added chip is compatible because oftentimes memory errors occur because of faulty chips. Obviously you have to replace it but make sure that the new chip is well seated on the slots.
Did you recently install new software on the computer? In this case, newly installed software is considered culprit. To fix it, ensure that all the updates and patches are installed. Sometimes you may face the same problem because you did not install the software correctly. Also if you are trying to run a memory-intensive program of an older system, you may face problems. In this situation, you have to uninstall the software and upgrade your system.
Did you add new hardware? If new hardware has been installed or removed then there may be loose connections.
If none of the above is your question, then you must start to investigate the possibility of memory problems. Below are illustrated few causes with solutions.

Solution:
Make sure that memory chips and VGA cards are properly installed.
Also make sure that mainboard and memory chips are compatible with each other.
Cause: System Reboots or Hangs
Solution:
Check your Power Supply.
Make sure that your system has adequate memory.
Verify that there is no corrosion between socket and memory chip.
Cause: System reports memory problems
Solution:
Check your memory compatibility. The best method to check memory compatibility is to remove newly seated chip and check whether error is still there.
Check your CMOS settings for memory mismatch errors.
In some cases memory problems occur because your Windows Registry is damaged, corrupted or it is cluttered. To
fix Registry problems you should use reliable Registry Cleaner and PC Optimizer. To fix your hard disk problems, you may use the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter tools that come with your Windows Operating System. On Windows Vista, you may also use the Memory Diagnostics tool that comes with the operating system to check your memory chips and identify the problems.
