Responsibilities Of A Borrower

Every lender has several responsibilities towards its customers

. This includes ensuring fair trade practices, not trying to exploit a situation, always maintaining all rules and regulations prevailing in the place of operation and several others. While lenders have a lot of responsibilities and have to follow strict guidelines when lending any amount to an individual, borrowers have several responsibilities as well towards their lenders. Some of these responsibilities are as follows:

1) A borrow must always disclose everything about the financial situation to their lender. They must not hide any aspect of their past financial habits so that lenders can assess appropriately whether they qualify for a loan or not. Of course most data with respect to credit score, credit history etc will already be available with lenders, but still there are certain aspects where the lender relies on their customers for information. It is important that you provide the correct data and do not try to state a financial situation which is better than what it is right now.

2) Borrowers must also not try to use loans as quick ways to earn cash when they know they would not be able to repay. Your intentions while borrowing should always be to ensure you will repay the entire loan amount with all interest and other charges as per the agreed terms and conditions. You should not try to cheat the system by applying for the same kinds of loans in various places and default in most of them again and again.

3) Borrowers should also do their due diligence and go through all terms and conditions carefully. This is for your own good as if you miss out on any information and sign on the loan agreement; you may face a precarious situation in the future. It is important you sit with your lender and understand the entire loan agreement carefully and your exact obligations towards your lenders. If you cannot understand any aspect of the agreement, make sure you ask about it and clarify your questions before signing the loan contract.

4) Just in case you have taken a loan but you know you are about to fall behind or default in any of the scheduled payments, you should contact your lender and inform them about it. Running away from your lender or hiding information from them will only put you in a tough position at a later date. It is best to talk with your lender and make them aware of any unforeseen situations that may have arisen because of which you may have to delay a payment to the lender.
