Lasting for one-and-a-half hours, the talk was free to attendees and it focused on aspects of retail displays like signs, storefronts and window exhibits.

According to Ms Shaddox, when firms get this right, it is one of the best means of advertising.

She also covered the key design and merchandising principles behind innovative and attractive storefronts.

In addition, those present also received tips on creating functional and appealing interiors.

Ms Shaddox has worked in the industry for a number of years and has considerable experience as an interior designer.

After giving her talk, she stayed around to answer questions posed by inquisitive business owners who were keen to make the most of the session.

While creating such advertising displays may be an option for some, many firms benefit from employing professional agencies to add their touch.

And given the fragile state of the economy, this could be a wise option for organisations as such firms are able to tailor retail display solutions that stand out to potential customers.
