People like to say there is strength in numbers, and for the most part, they're right. But, how many people does it really take to drive a tractor? Unless you have multiple tractors, the more people you put on that task, the more difficult it becomes. Some jobs are easier done when done alone. I've always been a fan of the KISS acronymkeep it simple stupid. And, limiting the number of people it takes to do a job is doing just that. However, keeping a job simple and easy doesn't always mean it's safe. Lone worker security has always been an obstacle when dealing with these types of jobs. Do you sacrifice inefficiency for added security, or do you take your chances? Luckily, with the advancement of technology this is no longer the moral dilemma it once was. Now, there are wireless duress systems that can help provide that added sense of security while still retaining efficiency.

Personal Duress

This feature is pretty simple really. Basically, it works the same as one of those red nurses' buttons in a hospital bed. If you need help, you can simply press a button, and a message is quickly sent across the network to the Hub and then to all system users. The message will include who is in need of help and where they are. Additionally, a confirmation message can be sent informing the person in duress that their message was received.

No-Response

So, what happens when you're unable to press the button? Situations can arise when you're physically unable to let people know you need help. So, unless someone sees you, you're done for, right? Well, not quite. The no-response feature can be switched on and off. When activated, period alerts are sent to the worker, and if two go unacknowledged in a row, a help signal is sent out in the same fashion as the personal duress button.

Man-Down

The man-down alarm is similar to the no-response feature. It can be turned on and off, but instead of sending a periodic alert, it immediately sends a duress message when the device is tipped beyond a certain angle. This eliminates any potential delays in having to wait for two consecutive no-response alerts.
