Retire in Mexico; Choosing Your Home or Condo

Retire in Mexico; Choosing Your Home or Condo

While planning to retire in Mexico, one of the most important decisions you will make is choosing the property that is best for these relaxing years, and the location of that property. One choice will be between buying a Mexico home or a Mexico condo. The following are a few possibilities of lifestyle, and property options which might be suitable for you.

Convenience and Service. For retirees who would like to have everything taken care of, from maintaining the yard to regular maintenance check ups on the property, condo complexes are usually the best choice. This often goes hand in hand with nearby activities, such as malls, movie theaters, dining options and much more. This kind of lifestyle can be found in resort towns, and often directly within resorts. The amount of service varies, often according to price. The Playa del Carmen Cancun strip, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos offer a good deal of options for this lifestyle.

Gardening and Plants. Other retirees prefer to be active in terms of taking care of a little garden, and decorating a yard area the way they like it not out of necessity, but as a pastime. While homes with yards are available in most areas, they are most easily found for accessible prices in some of the smaller lake front towns, often very picturesque, and spacious. Residents of these areas can also often enjoy bike rides through the countryside's rolling hills past little farms and lots of trees. Lake Chapala is perhaps the favorite example.

Quiet and Out of the Way. While most retirees want access to basic services, some definitely prefer to really get away from it all, off the beaten track. A number of beachfront areas which never went through a "boom" like the busier areas offer beachfront lots or homes that are really quiet and relaxing, while still close to neighbors, basic services in town, and a reasonable drive to city conveniences. Costa Maya is a good example. Another option is a countryside ranch, a short drive from a city. Yucatan, and areas like Morelia or Valle de Bravo in the central interior of the country offer good options.

Old City Charm. Mexico is home to some of the western world's most charming and best kept up colonial era cities, rivalling the beauty of European cities. These ar ideal for retirees who enjoy the charm of old buildings, beautiful parks and many living traditions and culture, such as Mariachi music. Merida, Morelia and Mazatlan are examples. Both colonial homes near the city center and newer condos can be found for reasonable prices.

Consider retiring in Mexico; you will most certainly find something that suits your lifestyle.
