Revitalize Your Garden By Including A Water Fountain

A wonderful way to enhance your garden is to add a water feature such as a fountain or garden waterfall

. These improvements are both soothing and visually pleasing. Adding a water feature can be quite easy, relatively affordable, and will contribute significantly to the atmosphere of your garden.

I have learned that there is very little that is more relaxing than relaxing on a bench in my backyard garden getaway and listening to the peaceful sound of my backyard fountain while I read the newspaper or just close my eyes and "chill-out".

Water features and fountains are usually incorporated for the aesthetic and audible relaxation they provide. It is amazing how just being near an active water fountain delivers a healthy positive energy.

Do you practice Tai Chi or another type of yoga or introspection? The steady sound of moving water is precisely what many people need to make it possible for them to focus on spiritual activities.

Indeed, just finding yourself in a garden with a flowing water fountain offers a meditative experience, even if you're not specifically trying to do so. I heartily recommend it to anyone.

Upon deciding to add a garden water fountain, be sure to put some thought into selecting a style and design that will integrate well with the entire garden. If you will be using any other decorative items (e.g., chairs, benches, gazing balls, bird baths, etc.) you should make sure that the fountain matches well with your entire garden style. Does the fountain you are considering appear to be an organic part of the setting or does it seem out of place in your garden?

If you have difficulty deciding whether the fountain will be a good fit you may choose to solicit the recommendation of someone who has a better feel for design elements. Perhaps a friend or relative has the talent needed to make an informed decision. Or perhaps you could take a photograph and show it to the fountain merchant, either in person or online, and ask for guidance in finding the perfect fountain for your specific garden.

Another thing to consider is the approach you will use to supply electrical current to the fountain's pump. There are numerous fountains available today that are powered by solar cells. This would be a good solution if you live in a region with plenty of sunshine. Alternatively, if power will have to be supplied from your home circuit, you will have to run an electrical cord to the fountain.

Using a common extension cord is definitely not a wise course of action. Not only would it be unattractive but it would also not be very safe. A practical solution would be to invest in an extension cord that has been specially designed to be buried. It can be installed with minimal effort by cutting a small slit trench from the house to the site where the fountain will be located.

Having a water feature in your backyard is not only calming, it also adds character to what otherwise would be a rather basic landscape. Fountains are available in all price ranges so there should be no problem in finding an affordable fountain and installation plan.

So, if a peaceful and soothing retreat located just steps from your back door sounds like something you would benefit from, why not give serious consideration to adding a water feature to your garden. You'll be glad that you did.
