According to many medical experts, the reason why rhinoplasty became a popular trend in cosmetic surgery is because of western influences in terms of the aesthetic form of the nose, which is making their noses narrower and more elevated compared to the typical Asian noses, which are flatter and wider.

According to historical documents, rhinoplasty was already practiced in India before westerners had started using the procedure. It was said that the procedure was first started by Sushruta, the father of surgery, and that British surgeons had visited India to learn this procedure.

It was only when these British surgeons had returned after almost 20 years of practice that they have introduced a modern method in rhinoplasty.
