The doctor will do an evaluation of your nose and will ask you many questions. He will explain the different things that he feels that he can do with your nose. Some of these things include reshaping the tip or bridge of this body part, narrowing the distance of the nostrils or correcting some type of birth defect that you might suffer from. He will create pictures of what the finished product will look like, and you will have plenty of opportunities to review this information and ask questions.

If you decide to go ahead with this procedure, he will explain what to expect from it. One of the things is the length of time it will take to accomplish the surgery. In most cases, you can expect it to take one or two hours. If a lot of work must be done, the surgery may take longer than this. You may also want to find out beforehand what type of scarring will be left. Experienced surgeons often perform the entire procedure through the nostrils of the nose. By doing it this way, there are virtually no scars from the surgery. If it is done a different way, there may be small scars, but they will not be obvious. After the surgery, you will most likely have a splint on your nose and this must remain there until the doctor removes it. This is very important because it will help the nose heal in the proper place. This is usually removed after a week or two. Your doctor will most likely tell you what to expect after the surgery. This will usually include swelling and soreness, and there may be some bleeding. Rhinoplasty is not for everyone, but if you are unhappy with the way your nose looks, you may want to look into having this done.
